Hello,
I was wondering if someone could assist me in determining the year and horse power of an older evinrude that I have a chance to buy. The fellow selling it[at quite some distance from me] gave me the following numbers from the motor. I have no idea what they mean with respect to year and horse power, if at all. Here are the numbers: 518-52696.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean.

Hello Sean,

That number does not help us, does he have a model/serial number or a pic?

(This is Chris P, you had just emailed me about the 15hp Evinrude)

It looks as though something is missing from the first half of that number

Re: older evinrude

Would that older Evinrude happen to be a 7.5hp Fleetwin? Then it is a 7518 model 1955.

Re: older evinrude

Well, the 7518 only shows a 1955 from what I have found. 1954 goes 7514 -17 and 1956 goes 7520

In this case, the serial number should help narrow down what month. :)

Who knows, F_R, maybe someone just put Scott Attwater clamps on an Evinrude. LOL :D:D
