i am using an old fuel line with primer bulb from the 60's , its in excellent condition but i am wondering if it is compatible with todays gasoline. ( a buddy at work says they are not). He says they disinegrate with a black gummy substance affecting the carb. im using reg.unleaded gas with no additives .( ethonal, e87etcc...). any insight would be helpful.

Your friend is correct. It is the alcohol that causes most of the problems, and many additives like SeaFoam have alcohol as well.

I've never had a problem with any fuel line. Your mention is the first I've come across.
