HiToday I am wondering what the ratios were for different older motrs. See, the local OMC man told me 50-1 for everything I had, which was a 1965 40hp and a late 70 early 80 55 horse triple. Well naturally I measured it out and then gave it an extra dollup, probably making more like 40-1 or even 35. Problem is, that old 40 horse died on me, she still goes but not worth a @#*$. So I found a 1961 40 to replace her, and it says that it wants to be fed 24-1... Did OMC man lie to me? Did I burn up my old 40? And what about my new (70s) 5 and a half horse? what does he want to be fed?ThanksC

Re: older fuel mixes?

thats very interesting, thankyou!I beleive I will stick with opinion #2 also. I always add a little extra, the only damage you can do being on the rich side is fouling plugs, and having the rest last longer. However if you were to stay on the lean end, well, we all know what kinda damage that can do!ThanksCraig
