I have an old 30hp tohatsu. I dont know the year. The plate on the side reads M30A2. When I search for parts, I find parts for M30A3 and M30A4. Are the lower unit parts for A3's and A4's compatible to my A2?

Year of manufacture is not relevant for service and parts purposes. The exact model is...

Yes, parts for a 30A will fit a 30A, regardless of minor revision (A3 or A4 bits are minor revisions of the A). What parts do you need?

Re: older tohatsu parts

G'day, I hope I am not out of line asking this question here. Maybe I should have started a new thread. I have a Tohatsu M18A model 350. There is a part missing from the choke mechanism. It's the bit that goes from the where the butterfly knob is on the side of the carby and back to a slotted plate which slides in and out with the choke lever. Jeez i hope I have described that right. I guess what I am after is a part number or reference/link to a manual/parts list so i can try and get another one. Any help is appreciated greatly. Regards, Tim

Re: older tohatsu parts

The oldest parts catalog I have handy is for an 18C. The choke lever for that motor is no longer available, and I expect that parts for the 18A, being older yet, are even less available... However, you may be able to fabricate one based on the drawing in the exploded parts diagrams. See Elvin's listing at http://www.internetoutboards.com/PartsCatalogMenu.htm
