I took the carb apart to check for blockage and it was clean as a whistle. Installed new spark plugs ngk. When I prime the bulb there's no gas dripping/spraying through the needle into the carb now, it was fine before. I took the carb apart again using a small plastic string and stuck it through the needle, no blockage but still the same problem, the bulb is hard but no gas dripping or speaying through the needle. The motor will start when i spray gas mixture directly into the carb, will also run just fine but will not start by pulling the rope until you spray gas directly into the carb. Can anyone help??????

Squeezing the bulb shouldn't spray gas into the carb. That's a sign the floats are set too low and the needle isn't closing.

What you have now is a sign that the floats are set too high, so the needle isn't opening. The spritz gas of into the carb and firing off also pretty much verifies this.

What are you working on. '74 Thunderbolt doesn't mean anything cuz that's the name Merc uses for a type of ignition.

How do I set the float to the accurate level?
