Sigh. I started this rebuild in February and am still throwing time and money at getting it to run right.

Marked flywheel for all cylinder positions. Hooked timing light to individual plug wires trying to determin miss and backfire. #1 ok, #3 shows crosstalk with #1, #2 shows number 4 mark, and #4 shows number 4 mark. Plugs, wires, power pack, timer base, coils are all new. Any advise folks?

Additional info: Timing light on #1 firing on 1 and 3. Timing light on 3 firing 1 and 3. Timing light on 2 firing 4. Timing light on 4 firing 4. I've just compleeted ALL diagnostic tests in my factory manual of stator, timer base, power pack, and coils other than the high output of the coils, and EVERYTHING is better than spec. I'm lost

Drackley....check the the ignition coil wires from the power packs. Simple code here, Blue Skies, Green Grass. Make sure the pack wires are blue stripe to the upper coil and green stripe to the lower coil. One or the other will have a stripe on it.

Those are fine, and a reversal I don't think would cause these simptoms. I have no #2, #4 is firing on 2 and 4, and 1 3 are double firing on those two cylinders.

post your test results please of the ignition system, ie timer base and pack voltages, shorts to ground and resistances

Re: OMC 115 V4 crossfiring ignition.

I would have to run all the tests again to do that. As noted above, they are all better than minimums, and no shorts. Hence the query as to what might be up since it makes little sense. A loose/moved flywheel would cause the timing to shift in most cases, not the noted lose of #2 and double fire of 1 and 3.
