I'm getting the exhaust manifold and the power steering with the new used motor but the lower unit is bad the lower unit i have now is good they look the same the question is will it work. First and foremost, make sure the boat has mounting provisions for V-block motors. They mount totally different than inlines and not all boats fitted with inlines have the necessary structure for a V.

Outdrive gear ratios are different for different classes of motor. The gearing in the upper drive is the difference until you get to V-8s where everything is different.

You will need a complete motor with everything on it. Nothing on that Ford 2.3 will work on a GM 4.3 except maybe the alternator.

Make sure you have room for a V-6. Is the doghouse big enough?

Yes the motor cover will fit I did not look at the motor mounts I will do that the next time I go to the yard where this motor is at. I herd the gearing was different can I cheat that with a prop change?

No, you can't cheat with the prop. Everything about the lower unit is different. Larger case, bigger (stronger) gears, different ratio goes with the strength.
If it could be done with a prop, why would the manufactures use different gear ratios???????
