What is the consensus about the OMC 2.3L engine? I'm running an 89 in a Bayliner Capri.

Thanks

Re: Omc 2.3l

The 2.3 Ford 4 cylinders were used for 3 years only (87 through 90), and by only one company. OMC. Volvo had a 2.3L engine, but not the engine OMC used.
OMC also went out of buisness in 98, a few years after Ford got out of the marine market.
There are many of the marine parts/accessories for the 2.3 that are NLA, and no tech support from OMC at all.

I had a 19ft boat with the 2.3 ford omc. underpowered engine, impossible to
a tech to work on the omc. parts seem ok to get but there is a diminishing
supply. best day of my boating life when it sold. The best support for i could find is right on i boats

Re: Omc 2.3l

My 19 foot capri closed bow runs 53 miles per hour and planes in a heartbeat. I have a 5.0L.
I drove my buddy's boat, same model and year, with a 4.3L and couldn't believe the difference. Top end of about 33 mph and a dog out of the hole.
I can only imagine how dissappointing a 2.3L would be.
