Well i got my 78 2.5 running, and it was pumping water from hose..
Took it to the lake today and tried to run it at the dock.
It ran then started sounding very boggy, seeming like the exhaust gaskets were allowing water to get into exhaust..

I'll be going through all of them, and redoing. I plan on draining oil, are there any other steps I should take to clear out any water that might of made it in?

Also, is there supposed to be a gasket for when outdrive is down? It clanks when I lower.

THanks!

Are you saying that because of the clank?
I greased the swivel bearings, where are the pivot bearings located? (78 OMC 400)

Can you recommend TORQUE specs for the exhaust manifold bolts? (78 OMC 2.5l 153ci)

Sorry bud ... I was typing too fast the other day (busy at work). I meant your swivel bearings, and that was to eliminate an issue with exhaust gases. You've got it covered.

Can you tell what is "clanking" when you lower it? Make sure you're lowering it in shorter "bumps" of the switch. Just hittin' the button and lettin' it drop will go too fast and can kinda' slam the drive down.

I can't find any recommended torque specs for the manifold bolts in my stuff. I don't have a shop manual handy though.
