OMC 235 - Running Engine Outside of the Boat

I've got a 1977 OMC 235 with a Ford 351 engine. I've pulled the engine and rebuilt it, I've got it almost 100% reassembled and ready for a test run on an engine stand I've built.

I'm looking for some guidance on how to build a makeshift ignition and keep power to the engine while it's outside of the boat and the wiring harnesses aren't hooked up.

Any help is appreciated.

I figured I would come back and answer my own question in case someone came along reading the thread and looking for the same information.

Ignition - Get an on/off toggle switch from the hardware store. Run a wire from the positive battery terminal to the off side of the switch. Run a wire from the on side of the switch to the positive terminal on your ignition coil.

Starter - Get a normally off toggle switch or push button switch from the hardware store. Run a wire from the positive battery terminal to the off side of the switch. Run a wire from the on side of the switch to the proper terminal on the starter solenoid.

Make sure to give the engine water.
