seems I have messed up when I rebuilt my dashboard for this engine. When I turn the ignition and before I fire the starter I can hear a sort of scary click click in the electric parts of the engine. Any idea where I could find the elctric diagram for this engine 1972 8 cyl OMC 240 HP...

Check ground connections on the engine from the battery.. Check battery connections and make sure battery has a full charge and is good..Try using jumper cables to another battery. Sounds like low voltage clicking of the starter solinoid.

Re: OMC 240 Inboard

thx for your answers but unfortunately , the battery is brand new, I don't think it's an electric fuel pump . You know when you turn the key you have a position when you have power but nothing is supposed to happen yet, it is when This noise I was talking about happens I repeat, before I try to fire the starter,

you guys are great ...i'll drop by the boat in 2/3 days and check all that.I printed the PDF doc for the wiring. what are the chances that mercruiser and force instructions work for OMC, especially an old piece like mine ?
