well it was the standard egr carb plate that came with the manifold.

it would NOT fit with an egr unit hooked to it.

My plan was to make a plate and cover the egr ports.

My plans were changed by fella at machine shop, who then just tapped the holes and put plugs in........ genius!

now ive got the timing set to 6 degrees btc, idle at 600, and she sounds great!

the gasket i had to use...... was from an 83 f350 with a 460..... the guy at the parts store told me it wouldnt work because i had a 351w and not a 460.... he tells me the carbs would be different....... I told him well im willing to screw it up then. Well it worked great. Kinda funny how he thought the carbs would be different.... oh well some people's kids!

I will report back hopefully to report good news...... but this is a boat.... and we all know how that can go....

/me crosses his fingers

thanks again

heh, yeah i read that, didnt really think much about it though.... thought the cut plate and bolt on idea was golden....... that is until he did that. So in a nutshell you're a genius for recommending the tap/plug theory :p

i would have been so lost without you guys, i got much love for this place.

See ya tomorrow!

woo hoo!

Re: omc 240 misfiring with new engine

ok well i think i gotta start a new post for my new problem

took the boat out to lake washington yesterday, the boat ran great until i went over 3500 rpm's. When i would go WOT the engine would get hot, almost to the point of overheating....but i was on the temp guage like a hawk.

anything i should look for as far as overheating over 3500 rpm?

almost happy!
