omc 3.8 outdrive

i have a stringer 3.8 litre outdrive and want to install it in replacement of my broken stringer 5.7 litre outdrive both are mechanical shifts same year 1984 what should concern me and what remedies are there to doing this thanks in advance

i dont believe there are any concerns they both should be 800 series.
everything i know says there should be no problems.
im sure someone will chime in with more knowledge they i


edit- im not sure but i think the 5.7 and 3.8 might have different gear ratios
which isnt that big of a deal youll just need to change props

thanks man thats what ive heard i beleive going up in pitch is the answer yes/no?

yes up in pitch should be right
really only one wat to be sure check the ratio for both
i would think once they are off you should be able to tell the ratio the same way you check axle ratio on a car
turn drive shaft, count turns of the wheel
once again hopefully someone can chime in with a positive answer
