OMC 4.3 rings / bearings

I have my OMC 4.3 V6 apart now and want to ask if there is any difference in the Chevy piston rings and rod bearings in comparison with the OMC parts? In other words, can I pick up piston rings and rod bearings from the local parts place or do I need to get the OMC parts? I know that the heads and some other parts are not the same.<br />Merry Christmas to all!

Also, anyone have an idea what the block weighs with the crank and cam etc. inside?

You can use automotive rings and bearings. About 550 lbs.
