I am currently restoring a 1994 Four Winns 180 Horizon SE with an 1993 OMC Cobra 5.0 190HP motor. Currently the boat has no throttle and hence no trim switch. I currently am needing to tilt up the outboard to move it. Is there a manual override I can use? If not how can I energize the tilt/trim motor without the switch?

Lastly, what engine manual do you recommend for the 1993 OMC Cobra 5.0 190HP on a 1994 Four Winns 180 Horizon SE?

Thanks All.

Disconnect the blue and green wires that go from the trim motor to the Fuse/relay box. Then clip some jumper wires onto the motor wires and go directly to the battery. One wire on positive, one on negative. If you want it to go the other directions switch terminals. It's a reversable motor.

Thanks Don. I'll give it a try.

As far as jumper wires go, what gauge wire should I use?

14ga. should work fine. It's not something you will be using a lot, so if you use smaller (not less than 16 ga. the wire might start getting warm by the time you get the drive up or down.
