can anyone tell me the difference between the omc regulator rectifiers from omc.

Part numbers are
omc 585001 & omc 584476

both are identical in diamentions on the outside and both have same colour wires.

i have been told that they are the same ? is this tru ?

on the omc 58001 there is other numbers underneath that are 25 B U-OA

on the OMC 584476 the other numbers are 24 AR-OA ( the R could be a B).

are the numbers underneath anything to do with the actual parts or just parts bin codes ?

from what ive read so far from different places is they are 10amp or 12amp regulator rectifiers depending on who i ask.

Also ive noted that on the cdi electronics page their new one replaces both these numbers and siera
say the same ?

i want to fit the 584476 to my 1995 evinrude 60hp3 cylinder, as the 58001 dont seem to be working at
all and ive been told this other one is definitely a good working rectifier/regulator.

is this ok to fit to my engine ?

Engine model.....BE60TLEOC

please help as i dont want to destroy the rectifier if its the wrong one.

Bombardier Parts Dept. shows that the 584476 supercedes to 585001.

So by superceeding i take it are these interchangable ?
I do know that some places sell these as fitting from 40hp to 70hp upto 2001.

what is the difference in how they work or amps for charging etc.
will it still work on my engine
will i get rev counter working

dont realy want to destroy it,or cause problems with the rest of the engine electrics.

I'd think it will work just fine. Usually when the rectifier goes two things happen, the tach reads funny and the engine won't charge the battery. With a new/working rectfier, you should correct both problems.

"With a new/working rectfier, you should correct both problems."

well i do hope so emdsapmgr .
Once i get the rev counter working and battery charging the engine should all be fineagain.
I have had a few bits and pieces to do to this engine since i got it back in April.
Fuel pump problem, power trim seals and rams etc.

With the rev counter i can watch that i dont over rev or over prop etc, at the moment
i am using a 13 x 19 stainless prop and im pretty sure im getting some serious over revving.
The boat jumps onto plane, and i do mean jump... and goes to max throttle in an instant.
Ive had a few boats in the past that were not exactly slow, but this engine takes this 13ft
dory to max speed instantly and does sound like it could take a much bigger prop.

so fingers crossed on fitting the rectifier/regulator (tommorow i hope).
