Re: OMC 800 has no reverse
Not sure if this is your problem, but mine did the same thing, no reverse. My inner cable was bent enough that trying to push it into reverse, it wouldn't go. It would just kink up. When I took it off to adjust it, it broke all the way. Bought a new cable and was in the process of replacing it when I checked out the shift rod. It was damn near frozen in place with junk. Had to take the upper off the lower drive to see what was going on (NOT a fun thing to do). My shifter rod was just loaded with junk. Cleaned it off, waiting for the parts to put it together.
