I had a '72. Gave it to a bud a few years ago when Mom and Dad were done with their boat - brought me up into a 2003 model. You can see the old Silverline HERE.

Good! The other option was called tru-course (which should be what you have). It meets up with the drive in the upper gear case and provides an outstanding swing on that drive. For all of the "bads" about that about the Stringer, range of the steering control in that tru-course is pretty cool to have.

Yep thats what i have, I like how the worm type tilts raise up much higher too compared to a hydraulic lift on a drive with U joints. i havent had mine in water for 2 years so im fixing or selling it, hopefully can fix it.

You hafta' want to own the Stringer, otherwise it'll frustrate you. But even the old electric shift type that I had wasn't all bad. Good time for a gut check with it, but there are still plenty of 'em out on the water.

I figure i can get it going since i finally have registration on it, The Stringers are definitely different, but can put money in them and still be cheaper than anything halfway new.

Sometimes. There are a few things that can leave you in a lurch.

If you like it, keep it and make it go. No reason it can't go for quite a while, or why it can't be a really good boat for you.
