omc 800 stringer tru course steering

how do you remove steering cable at intermediate housing on 800 omc stringer v8 ?

the drive has to come off first .

then you have a helper steer the wheel until you can see the flathead screw on the steering drum.

pop that screw out and you can then remove the steering gear by sliding it out , the cable is then off.

I hope your boat has good access back there , I was sore for a day when I installed mine ....very tight quarters.
