well first off i forgot my password and had to create a new account.... thank god you can spell bryan 2 different ways :)

anyways to my boat problem

last year i put about 5000 dollars into this boat. New engine, manifolds risers, heat exchanger, impeller, alternator, starter, and the list goes on!

so Im out cruising to mutiny bay in puget sound at about 4000 rpm, 28 knots for about 20 min when the engine revs up to over 5 grand!! I quickly toned the throttle down, and noticed that it was still in gear, and that we were infact still moving forward. However i cannot take it to 4000 rpm, its like its slipping, or something broke. so a 20 min cruise out, turned into an hour and a half slow pokin back to edmonds and no i didnt get to fish!!!. but im really glad i was able to poke back, that vessel assist is crazy expensive.

Im not sure what to look for, at the wash bay, i noticed its a lil noisey out of the water while in gear.

so i know i came to the right place, as ive recieved tons of great advice with my old user name (Bryan_S)

Thanks for any help

Sounds like a spun prop hub, Not a good idea running in gear on the muffs either

Doesn't hurt at all to run in gear on muffs and sounds like the water pump shaft/ upper driveshaft splines stripped out.

I am going down to the marina now to check the prop hub, when marking the hub/shaft would i need to have it in the water to find out?

or can i just put it up in the wash bay and check... out of the water?

thanks

Bryan S

ps i sure hope it isnt the water pump shaft, i just had the water pump replaced 2 weeks ago and it set me back 500 bux. The shop didnt mention anything about worn shafts or anything like that, infact they told me the drive was in good shape.

im crossing my fingers its just a spun prop hub
