Hello all. I am looking for some guidance on the proper operation of the neutral warm up button on my OMC Binnacle Control Box. The control box operates a 2001 70 HP Johnson.

Post a picture or a link to the picture of your control.

Can't really see the side of the lever. It's either going to be a button at the pivot point or you pull the whole lever outwards to use the neutral warm up feature.

So...what is your question? How far to advance the throttle when you start?

How far to advance and do you advance the lever while holding the button down. I assume once the lever is in the forward position and after the warm up is complete you just bring the lever back to neutral and leave the button alone?

I advance the throttle and start the engine but fully anticipating I will have to pull it back quickly once the engine starts so I don't over rev the engine.

Once the lever is forward, you don't need to hold the button. The sole purpose of the button is to prevent the shift cable form operating as you move the lever forward.

Once warmed up, return the lever to the middle position and will behave as normal.
