I have a 1989 OMC Cobra 302 and I am installing the alternator. I have a Mando 55 amp alternator. It appears to be the same wiring as the Motorola and presto lite.

My problem is that on the back side I have a short red wire and a short black wire. Each is about 6 inches long. They are on the alternator but do not go to anything. Where do these go.?

They just hang off the back and are not part of the harness.. Help me, I am as slow on this as a bag of rocks.

Thanks
Jack

there are the "sense" and "excite" and are needed for that type to operate correctly. The sense is a constant battery voltage and the excite can be connected to the + side of the coil. It is a switched circuit.
