OMC Cobra 4.3 1988. RPM problems above the 3500 RPM

Hello,

I haven an Sea ray sorrento 21. When i open the throttle ,for more speed, till 3500 - 4000 RPM the engine will get a shock and the RPM goes down DIRECTLY to around the 1000 RPM. But my throttle handle is in the same stand. The boat speed is stopping very hard. This happens sometimes. But the last time very much. It can be very dangerous when people are standing in the boat.

Can somebody tell me what it can be???

I already replaced the fuel filters and the contact points.

I think fuel is not feeding, cause by a bad fuel pump. How old is your fuel pump? I am putting mine in next week.

I dont know how old the fuel pump is. I already replaced the bougies, bobine, contact points and condensator. The weathet sucks here in Holland at the moment. So i cant test it right now. When the gear is neutral the engine will go to 5500 rpm when i give gas in this neutral position.

I hipe to heat from you the results. Do you got the exactly problem?
