getting ready to reinstall my outdrive. i dont have and alignment tool handy. but i do have an input shaft yoke available. currently, i am able to slide the yoke smoothly thru the gimble bearing and into splined adaptor with little effort. i can also feel the slight resistance when the o rings are seated. and it does appear to seat fully in position. do i really need the alignment tool? i can get an alignment tool via ebay but it takes a week to get it shipped and i really want to get my boat back together.

The advantage of the alignment tool is that you can read the grease marks to set the alignment up and down to the perfect spot.

Re: omc cobra 7.5 outdrive question.

Hey comander, i am new to this game.

I have a 2855 460 ford omc cobra out drive, we have a shifting problem,
when launched the shifter works fine and smooth. put boat in reverse to back out and could not shift to forward. tuned motor off and the sifter works fine so i put it in the forward position and could not put it in revers.
whats up with that?
