Last fall my 89 Cobra started backfiring through the carb at about 3200 rpms. Also it started vibrating at about the 3000 rpms. Is this ignition related or more of the fuel delivery/carb issue?

Thanks in advance guys.

Did this start happening after a tune up?

Check ignition wires for cross jump spark. You could run it in the dark and look for the light show.

Re: OMC Cobra 5.7L backfires through the carb

I did suspect water in fuel, but my Racor clear bowl filter (did not change it since last summer) does not show any signs of water at all. I was actually expecting a buble of water a the bottom of the bowl. Or am I completely off on this?

Also, my fuel filter is mounted on the bulkhead in front of the engine, as opposed to being mounted right on the motor (I guess it's referred to as "remote filter"). Is there a chance that my setup has another filter somwhere besides the Racor (traced the line all the way through and did not see anything that would look like a filter)?

Thanks again guys
