Hi all - NEED HELP !!!!!!
I recently purchased a boat with a OMC 5lt Cobra engine and outdrive - the engine is running lumpy in idle, so firstly how do I tune this?

Here the problem starts when I put it in the water for the first time I quickly realised that the steering was wrong Turn Left and go Right, Go Right and Turn Left - this is rectified by steering in the opposite direction in which you want to go but from a long term view it?s a real pain!!

It appears the be cable steering connected to a power steering unit with hydraulics connected - I think?

Please if anyone knows please help!

Well, if you don't know what a tuneup is, or what is involved in one, I doubt you have the tools, or the knowledge to do the job. A 5.0L Cobra could be either a Chevy or a Ford engine. You will need a compression tester, dwell meter, and timing light to to the job correctly, along with the most important tool, the OEM service manual. It will explain how to do the tuneup.
As far as the steering, that depends on they type steering helm you have. Is it rack and pinion, cable, or hydraulic (not the same as power steering).
