I understand you want to get a standard rotation unit and I won;t get into whether I think you can get it resolved with the shop. But you need to realize that mechanically there is nothing wrong with the setup you have. They are designed to run exactly as you have it. If you had bought a boat with twin drive, ONE would have a CR lower unit. And it would be running in counter rotation all the time.
Just want to clarify that so you don't think it's a mechanical problem to run it this way. I wouldn't keep running it in reverse, so I'd get the correct prop. then when you put it in forward the baot will go that way. You will be no worse for the wear.
I can't speak to any damage done by running an OMC in reverse, but on a Volvo it makes not a damn bit of difference. As a matter of fact you turn a Volvo into a CR drive but switching the shift mechanism on the drive from forward to reverse. Sop no damage is done by running them in reverse, becasue a CR drive is nothing more than a drive set to run in reverse. But again I am not sure what this means for an OMC
