88' cobra 5.0L. I have a bad trim send switch at the outdrive. Tested the switch as per manual last summer. From what I have read it looks like a major project changing this out. Can anyone share their thoughts or experience with a similar repair. Thanks in advance.

It's not too bad. Inside the engine compartment you will see a pair of black wires coming through the transom mount area. Follow them along for about 18 in to a plug, unplug the plug and remove the 2 wires from the plug. Follow the wires back down to the transom, there is a rubber grommet on the wires to seal where it comes through the transom, there may or may not be a SS clip on the end of the grommet, if there is remove it. Now go out to the outdrive, follow the wires up to the grommet and pull on it, if your lucky the wires and grommet will pop out, you may have to pull with pliers, once out replace with new one, I usually put a bit of sealer around the grommet and reinstall in reverse order.
