Hey,

I need to replace the trim sender on my '93 Four Winns w/an OMC Cobra 5.0 outdrive.
I know they can be tough to find, but I've found a few sources online, and am confident I could find one used as well.
I understand that the outdrive needs to pulled in order to replace the sender, which is not a problem since it is already off while the boat is in storage for winter anyway, but I haven't been able to find any good instructions on replacing it.
Where is it located exactly? Does anyone know the procedure for its replacement, or can point me in the direction of some instructions?

Any help is appreciated,
Thanks!

Re: OMC Cobra trim sender replacement

The sender unit is on the starboard side of the gimbal ring. It's a round disk attached by two screws. To remove the wiring you have to get at the top of the transom plate inside the boat.(I hope your boat is designed better than the last one I did the job on) There is a spring clip on the wiring where it comes through the transom plate, just above the steering arm.
