hey all, i'm trying to get a boat working for a friend of mine. the boat has been out of the water for a couple years, the prop is in the UP position.
the spark plugs are out of the motor. the motor was drained of oil (not sure why). the starter is removed from the bellhousing.
with the transmission in neutral, i can rotate the prop by hand only about 1/8th a turn in either direction. with the trans in forward or reverse, i can not rotate the prop by hand.
with a 3 foot breaker bar and socket on the front crankbolt, and can not rotate the engine at all, even if i stand on the breaker bar.
i'm assuming that either the engine is seized up, or, the cobra drive system is seized up.
so, i guess i need to know, do these drive systems have some sort of locking mechanism that won't allow anything to spin while the drive is raised UP?
or do these drive systems work regardless of whether they are up or down, mean, at this point, either the motor is seized or the drive system is seized.
thanks to anyone who helps. this is all new to me.
