Have a question in regard to winterizing my I/O.
I know about the upper & lower, draining the oil, draining and filling the engine/drive with anti freeze. Just one question. On the intermediate housing at the top there is a plug like on my drive except larger. I remove it and there is oil do I drain this oil as well? if so how? I have a Clymer Manual but it isn't really clear on this.

Re: OMC electric shift

Most likely your electric shift intermediate housing does not have a drain plug for the lubricant. They added one, I believe, when they converted to the hydro-mechanical outdrive in 1978. No fear tho. I never changed mine since 1975. Finally this year I updated my small splined drive shaft and coupler to the later larger 20 splined units. I obviously had to drain the 90 wt when I pulled the shaft.

If it concerns you, get a suction device with a small hose and suck it out. I'm not sure what the volume is but it is small. It just lubricates the double tapered roller bearings for the drive shaft.
