OMC engine carburetor gas leak

I have a 1992 OMC 5 liter engine. The carburetor has developed a small leak in the podded area shown on the attached photo. The podded area appears to be filled with some type of epoxy or caulk. Not sure. How is the best way to fix this gas leak.

that is a welch plug for the float bowl

still available from holley, remove the float bowl, drill a hole in the plug and pry it out with a punch. to replace it use a fuel specific sealer and punch the center of the plug with a socket of a diameter roughly half the size of the plug. this will seat the edge of the plug into the shouldered area of the float bowl
