omc engine wont start or crank

hi, im having problem with my 5.8 omc cobra ford v8 year 1989. it wont even crank when i tried to start the ignition.its like no power at all .it started when i was changing the engine wirings when i felt the coil is getting hot. checked the installation and its ok. tried to jump the starter and theres a spark but it seems that the engine was stuck up.can somebody help me with this problem of mine. thanks

Once you have ruled out electrical connections and battery, then the next step is to remove and test your starter. If the starter operates fine on the bench, then your engine may be hydrolocked. When did you run it in water last? Remove your spark plugs and try turning it over either by hand or with the starter. If water comes out the spark plug holes then you have a problem (same problem I just experienced with my '89 Cobra 5.8). Let me know what you find, and we can direct you from there.

thanks a lot, ill do it on my days off. the last time i ran it on water was 2 mos ago but its from a faucet water. i was testing my newly built outdrive motor. thanks again.
