OMC fun on Google Books

Poking around Google for an answer to another OMC related question & I found some articles from early 80's & 90's on OMC products that's kind of fun to read. Once upon a time it seems OMC did ok

I'm surprised at the lack of jeering comments about how wrong they had it back in the day This thread is definitely not giving me the entertainment value I expected.

the one about the "prototype" 229 V6 is cool. It certainly describes to a tee how my boat handles and drives with the production V6.

I think of my OMC800 like an old BMW or other European car.

parts are rare and pricey with no factory support.
it's bizarre to work on
you need to work on it a lot
you can never sell it for any real money

but when it runs, it feels like nothing else.
butter smooth shifting
quiet as a mouse
and fast

tight, accurate steering with sports car feel
