OMC Hi Vis substitution for 86 OMC cobra drive??

Hi,
Is there any substitution for OMC Hi Vis oil for Cobra sterndrive that I can get from a local auto part store? What about oil for tilt/trim system?

Mobil 1 75W90 Synthetic GL-5

Use transmission fluid for the tilt.

Thanks for the quick reply. And while we are on the oil subject, I read that OMC do not recommend multi-viscosity oil for my 5.7L engine. The recommended SAE30 is hard to find now a day. Will there be any issue with using 10W30 on the engine?

The best bet is to use 25W40 NMMA FC-W oil
Go here for more info.

If you don't want to use it then a good substitute would be any diesel rated 30W or 15W40 oil like Shell Rotella, Chevron Delo etc. This has been really beat to death.

Oil threads get very emotional too!

Or Rotella T....any auto parts store or truck stop.. it comes in 30 wt..

The OMC service manual states CRC Hi-Vis gear lube is the direct replacement for the drive..Napa can get it..
Or Johnson-Evinrude gear lube works fine too..

Manual says 40 straight
Good oil 15/45 etc will work.
now question what to use in the drive.

30 is not hard to find - Walmart has tankerloads of it.

I recommend SAE (Super Added Engredients) 0W140 from Sunstroke Oil Co.
