OMC hp rating change what year?

Here's the scoop. My 78 115 Johnson may need a rebuild. A guy may want to trade me an 83 Evinrude 90 horse for my 77 1150 mercury. Were the 83 OMC's rated at the prop or power head? The envinrude swap would be easier than the merc as it has the external Hydraulic pump etc, and the controls should be the same. Thanks in advance.<br /><br />Zane
