OMC I/O ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

AS STATED IN PREVIOUS POST INHERITED BOAT FROM MOTHER AND AM HAVING RECURRING PROBLEMS <br />1 REPLACED 4 SELINOIDS ON SIDE OF MOTOR THAT CONTROL TILT UP/DOWN AND TRIM UP/DOWN ONE EACH AS WELL AS REPLACED THE SEPERATE MOTOR THAT RAISES AND LOWERS LOWER END ON MOTOR WITH FRESH BATTERY I STILL GET CLICKING AT SELINOIDS WHEN TRYING TO ACTIVATE EITHER SWITCH?<br />ANY IDEAS OUT THERE WOULD SAVE ME SOME GREY HAIR.

It might help if you post exactly what you are working with and QUIT SCREAMING WITH ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.

Sounds like my 400 Boomer!!! Oh no, not another one! <br /><br />Was your motor (tilt) new or used?<br /><br />Is the wire connection for that motor clean?<br /><br />Have you cleaned out and checked the tilt worm gear, clutch etc etc etc for burrs or corrosion?<br /><br />Were the "keys" in the end of the worm gear and the motor that drive them? (Even though they are pushed in and usually stay put, I had one fall off, and had to make a new one. The coupling spring there too?<br /><br />BTW, can you tell I just went through this problem? )and still have not finished it)????<br /><br />Good luck.-Jeff

pull motor off see if it runs. if you get ciicking sound check battery terminals make sure thay are brightly clean and tight.check all grounds make sure thay are tight, check and clean . if you have and ohm meter check both power and ground for resistance.should be about 1 to3 ohms per cable check both .you can get an ohm meter at the local hardware for a couple of $ if you don't have one.like jh19 said too clean all terminal connections. GOOD LUCK

REPLY TO "BOOMYA" <br />I TYPE IN CAPS FOR TWO REASONS <br />1 IT IS EASIER FOR ME TO SEE WITH MY VISION AND FASTER THAN TRYING TO ADJUST FONTS AND SUCH.<br />2 IT IS ALSO OUT OF SHEAR FRUSTRATION THAT I AM ENDURING WITH THIS ONGOING PROBLEM.

That's what I do when I ask my mechanic for help.... I YELL AT HIM THE WHOLE TIME! Because it's easier for me. I wonder why he never seems motivated to help me?
