OMC ignition

This is a follow on question to the OMC control post. Everything I read a about ignitions says I should have three connections on the back of my swith. My switch is part of the control unit and there isn't a way to access the back of it. On the direct opposite side of the cosole where the controls are installed, there's a selanoid with 4 post - 2 large post and 2 small post. One of the large post has a hot wire going to it; the other three are empty. I don't know if this has anything to do with the switch or not. How do I hook up accessories that I only want to come on when the switch is "on", like the gas gauge? Thank you so much again for the help. I've learned more here in a 30 minutes than I've been able to in the past week.

Re: OMC ignition

On my omc control boxes, on the side where the key goes, there is a connection point that has a tach pulse wire, a red thet is switched on and off with the key, and I don't remember the third, probably ground, and maybe a 4th, dont recall off hand. Get a service manual, and you will find a complete electrical schematic.

Re: OMC ignition

SCO, I understand what you're saying the back of your switch looks like, but mine doesn't look that way. I don't know if someone has messed with the controls in the past or what. Is that black area on the left side of the controls where you access the ignition terminal? Thanks again for the help.

There should be a lanyard going to the kill switch on the side of the box....
