Hi all,
Getting ready to "de-winterize" my 1979 9.9 Evinrude outboard. I have a couple of questions. I am reading the original manual and it mentions the different types of lubricant needed to service this engine.
There are two types listed - an anti-corrosion lube (to be applied to specific points inside in the engine and to be applied using a grease gun) and an OMC Hi-Vis gearcase lube to be used when changing the lower-unit oil.
However, when shopping at evinrude.com, they only offer the "gearcase" lube and no anti-corrosion lube. Is there a difference? I know the difference between lower-unit oil and typical marine grease - is that what I need to buy to lubricate the moving parts inside the engine (marine grease) or am I missing something?
Also, would you stick to the OMC brand for these simple lubricants or will any do?
Thanks again.
Tim
