OMC / Mercruiser Interchangable?

What is the difference between a 15 tooth, 4.5" hub OMC prop that does not allow you to use it on a 15 tooth, 4.5" Mercruiser outdrive?

Don't shoot me if I'm wrong but I believe it is the thickness of the splines.

Nope,... It's the Length of the Splines.....

I forget which way it works,...
But,...
I believe you can put a Merc prop on an OMC, but Not the other way around.....
Or,...
Maybe that's backwards...

The OMC props Will work on Mercruiser, but use the OMC thrustwasher.

Merc props use a 3/4" longer spline.
OMC will work on Merc, but not the other way around...the proper thrustwasher must be used as well.
I have reamed Merc props at 13/16" to work on OMC, but the equipment to do it right is a must.
