Are the old metal 6 gallon outboard gas tanks still available ? If so how much do they cost? Thanks

I see a lot on eBay.
They go for cheap.
The only reason to have is for a vintage appearance.

I don't think they are available new anymore. I looked for one ten years back and couldn't come up with one.

I have an old one I use which I got at a yard sale. It is vintage but basically I am not a fan of plastic tanks. I use a long fuel line and keep the tank under the bow deck and out of my fishing area.

I have had thoughts of welding an aluminum tank for under the bow. Most of my "long days" on the water or camping trips have required 7 or 8 sometimes 10 gallons and it would be nice to have a 12 gallon tank.

I can't stand the portable plastic tanks. They're always leaking. WTF is the deal - why don't they make the metal ones anymore?

Anyone have a couple 6 gal metal ones to sell me?

I have 3 6 gal metal tanks my grandpa left me. All are solid and had gas in them and don't leak. 2 say Evinrude and 1 says Johnson and all are red.

before Boater's World went out of business, they had new metal OMC tanks; I think they ran about $70.
The price is one reason they make plastic tanks now.
PLastic tanks aren't as hard on your boat deck and toes. Especially around salt water, the bottom rim can rust. They are also lighter.
Metal tanks can rust in the inside bottom.
But I like them and have my old one from 1964. Saving it for when I restore my old Whaler it came with.
