Omc motor swap 2.5 to 3.0

I have an 88 bayliner with an omc 3.0 engine and long story short it got water in the Oil and am replacing it. I found a 86 omc 2.5 engine.

My question is will It be a straight swap just bolt up and go or do i need a conversion kit or should I not even bother. Both have omc outdrives.

unbolt one, bolt in the other, align as required

you will be down about 25hp going from a 3.0 to a 2.5

Ayuh,.... Plug, & Play,..... Externally they are the same, except the 2.5l doesn't use a harmonic balancer,.....
