OMC oil?

I have a 1988 Bayliner 24 foot Sierra. 305 OMC. I just got it. Can I add normal 10w30 oil or do I have to get OMC oil?

Yeah. That might be difficult. Even if OMC DID "make" their own oil, they went out of business more than 10 years ago......

That is an I/O right, with a small block Chevy engine? Normally you would use either SAE-30 motor oil or a multigrade made for I/O motors. Quicksilver makes a 25-40 motor oil for MerCruisers that works well.

Standard multigrade automotive multi-grade oil is not recommended for sterndrive applications.

agree 20W50, 25W40 or straight 30
no 10W30 for OMC i/o engine as they have no engine oil cooler
