I am looking for advice on how to change the nipple that comes out of the outdrive, port side and connects to cooling hose to transom to engine! Do I have to remove the outdrive? does it just push in? thread in? I have the new one but don't want to mess anything up. Thank you!

What outdrive do you have? Electric shift, cobra, something else? Can you provide a part number or model number? What year is it?

Theres is a big plastic nut that threads onto the drive end of the nipple , you will definately need to pull the drive then it's right there you can't miss it.

Thanks for the reply! Anything I have to watch out for when I pull the outdrive?

Not really, just put a block of wood under the skeg, pull the big pin that connects the trim rams, and take off the six drive attaching nuts, juggle the drive loose and tip it back away from the transom while it's still resting on the wood block, reach in and grab the driveshaft so it dosn't just flop down, take a big breath and muscle that bad boy out, it's actually easy to do, you'll need a new gasket kit to put it back on, about 3.99 plus shipping if you buy it on line.

cobra 2.jpgcobra.jpgalignment tool.jpgTaking it off is easy, remember the Cobra has to be in neutral not fwd like an Alpha.
Getting it back on can be tricky, I recommend building a stand like mine, it's easy took me a couple of hrs one winter day....
I am actually going to modify a motorcycle jack to make it even easier, but the wood stand works well. The challenge is getting the drive at the right height relative to the pivot housing, keeping the driveshaft straight and lining up the gimble bearing with the alignment tool before hand......

You guys have been a great help! Thank you for the advice and suggestions. Any idea where I can order the exhaust flappers (seals)? I have center risers and my flappers got burned. I'd like to do all of this work at one time and then happy boating. Thanks again, Aloha

Aloha guys,
well, I finally have all the parts and I have one question before I begin. I have center riser manifolds and I bought the exhaust flappers (seals) but they are more oval shaped compared to my exhaust. The dealer, Doug Russell, says they are the right ones. Do I have to shave them? Or should they just drop right in? I'm attaching the pic of the flapper, they top of the exhaust, and the riser.View attachment 118039View attachment 118040View attachment 118041
