OMC Outdrive question

This may be a silly question - but I am no mechanic.

Question:

I have a 5.8 liter Cobra (1989) that has a bad outdrive. Can I replace the 5.8liter outdrive with a 5.7 Cobra Outdrive- 21:16 ratio?

I don't know what the gear ratio is on the 5.8 liter.

Any help would be great. I have a chance to buy the 5.7 rebuilt and ready to bolt on and go... for a great price.

Yes if you had a cobra and the one your buying is a cobra. One engine in a 351 and the other is a 350 same gears.
