Hi All,

I have a problem trying to get the right parts for my 1983 Rude 90. Mod. # E90TLCTE, Ser. # J0271717.

The problem parts are the two cooling hoses going from the thermostat housing to the bottom of the cylinder heads. The OMC part #'s are: 0340976 and 0340975.

Both of these NEW parts are about the same length, within 1/4". The problem is that the parts (OEM) they are to replace are from 1/2" to 1 1/4" inch longer.

I ended up using 0340975 on the Port (left) bank. and neither part was remotely close to fitting the Starboard (right) bank. Both short by at least 1".

I went back to the dealer and their attitude was pretty much "tough". "That's what the book says".
That response surprised me, I thought this was a good dealer and has been helpful in the past. I've spent over $200.00 there (parts) in the last two months. I guess business is too good. They also refused to refund my money for the unused part. Oh well, I tried to do business locally. They WILL NOT get my lower unit reseal business.

I believe there may be a packaging problem with these parts, or the dealer mispackaged. Any of you out there with access to an OMC/Bomb. parts dept. I would appreciate a package check.

Also, the new hoses are much thicker than the original hoses, thus the plastic clamps will not fit. I ended up using stainless worm clamps, they seem to work OK. I also ended up using a water pump bypass hose from a Ford 5.0L engine to fit the right bank. The ID and curve in the hose was pretty close to the same, I just had to cut it to length. I would not have done this except no other OMC dealer here will even acknowledge anyone at the parts counter. Unless they know you just dropped $30K+ for a new rig.
