OMC Pin drive conversion project

Fellow iboaters. I had this crazy idea the other day after I chewed up my $265 michigan prop. Would it be possible to machine a new propeller shaft for an electric shift OMC that would accept a spline type prop? I can machine the shaft, the splines I would have to have sent out, but what do you guys think? It would solve some prop issues for us pin drivers. would anyone have any interest in buying one?

Well, it's a 20' foot boat and weighs in the hood of 3000lbs. This thing is a tank in the water. I was running a 13" dia prop unitil I put the spare on, which was a michigan PR120 or, 14 X 16 prop. It ran really well, but still needed a little more. That was until I hit some unknow rock, log, body what ever and destroyed the prop. Had to buy a new one. Got a PR124 which is a 14 X 20 I think (might be an 18) Have not tried it yet. Still, want to convert to a spline drive so prop hits are not as painful.

I was just asking to try to get a "real world" comparison to my rig. I had a PR120 ( I am 99.9% sure that would be 14 x 14). I have 24' @ 4200 lbs.

My PR120 worked OK, until I spun it. I just got a 14 x 12 prop, and am getting 22 mph @ 4200 rpm. My boat is heavier and moored. I know that I have alot of growth, too.

Our gears have to be the same in outdrive.
