Also I'm having trouble finding a pertronix Igniter II kit for this engine its an 88 2.3L OMC

2.3 is not the best boat engine but they do OK. Whats your problem?

You really don't need the Petronix. I've installed Pertronix in cars and I've owned several 2.3 Ford cars with points.<br /><br />Sure, it's an enhancement, but my 1987 OMC still has points and runs perfectly. Don't worry about it.

I'm just gathering info cause im about to purcahse a bayliner capri with a 88 2.3 omc in it. It reads 170's(PSI) across all the cylinders is that good for this year?

Stub,<br /><br />The later OMC's were pretty tough. They are getting a little harder to get parts for.<br /><br />Your compression is fine. That is a VERY tough engine.
