I have a 1990 V4 looper. Will the 1989 manual be close enough? I had the impression the engines were the same 1986-1991.

Re: OMC repair manual question

The book will be close and the procedures will be the same.

The ignition systems are different from 1988 and newer and the carbs have changed, as well as the thermostats over the years.

Are you saying they changed every year or just saying there is a differenc between the 86-86 and 88-91 years? I am only talking about it being 1 year off, but the 1989 manual is half the price of the 1990. If it's got different parts and part numbers than I'd rather just spend the money on the 1990 book.

Re: OMC repair manual question

OK for those of you that have factory OMC manuals from 1988-1991 era, do they include the part numbers of the engine parts IN the manual? I have noticed there are a few differences in part numbers between the 2 years I'm comparing. Otherwise the parts breakdowns are nearly identical. It would be worth the extra $20 if it includes all the part numbers in the repair text.

Parts List is a separate document.
