Hi all I have a 1977 OMC stringer 120 hp with a four cyl gm motor,my manual says to use only omc sea lube anti corrosion lube for grease fittings and sea lube gearcase lube for gearcase, my question is if this stuff is still available which I'm guessing it is not, then what is a good substitute.
Model #980701
serial #W120480

Thank you

Where are all my OMC fellows, what do you use in your outdrives for lubrication?

I have a '75 stringer and I have been using a good moly grease (don't remember the brand) in all my grease points for almost 4 years with no problems. I use OMC Hi-vis oil in my upper gearcase (I buy it bulk by the gallon from my local marine store's 55gal drum) and remember to ONLY use OMC Premium Blend or Type-C oil in the electric shift lower.

It's like Harley telling you to use only Harley oil. So they can sell you that too.

Unless it's an electric shift you can use the same gear lube you would put in the rearend of your car. Most shops use an 85w-140 Synthetic blend. Full synthetic tends not to keep water in suspension which allows it to collect in the bottom of the drive and do its magic (rust/corrosion) there.

Always check your tilt box for water. Like every time or 2 you go out. Water in here is a fact of life for a stringer mount. Water here floats the oil up in to the motor and kills it.

OMC went out of business about 10 years ago. There was a group out of texas that bought the remains and sold parts and stuff, but that has changed too.
I think Bombardier ended up with it?
